Dear Jude,
In the last week of August we got all packed up, boarded an airplane {a first for both of us!}, and flew off to the desert of western Arizona to visit Papa Jack and Mimi in their new home! Daddy attended a week-long conference in Las Vegas {poor guy}, so he was able to fly with Mom and us then pass us off to Papa and Mimi for the week.
We both did great on the airplane going there. You watched Little Einsteins, Caillou, and Special Agent Oso on Mom's iPad nearly the entire three hour flight...
It took a little more...how shall I say it...skill...to entertain me on the flight there, but overall I was pretty happy.
{The way home was a bit rough, however, I will admit. Mom definitely got a workout by standing in the back of the plane and bouncing me in the Bjorn for two of the three hours. Apparently a flight during nap time + a teething baby without Tylenol = fussy baby, parents and passengers.}
It was wonderful to see Papa and Mimi again! We had missed them SO much!
One of the unique things we did was visit the historic Route 66 ghost town of Oatman, AZ...
Which is home to a population of wild burros.
{sometimes referred to by a different name}
And you had fun with an old-time guitar player, which - believe it or not - strummed out to "Hey Jude." What are the odds?!
Then the rest of the week we simply enjoyed hanging out with our wonderful grandparents!
Surprisingly the 120 degree heat wasn't too bad, and next time we visit it will be l-o-v-e-l-y weather! I can't wait!
Love you like a star-filled desert night sky,
Emily
